GANGSTARR "The Ownerz". Po 5 metų pertraukos sugrįžta viena iš geriausių pasaulio repo grupių – GANGSTARR. Ją sudaro 2 profesionalai: Guru (mc) ir DJ Premier (dj). Savo veiklą east coast’o atstovai pradėjo nuo 1989m. Per tą laiką jie išleido 6 studijinius albumus, neskaitant daugybės solinių projektų. Jazz ir hardcore rap propaguojantys Gangstarr’ai,rodos, išliko tokie patys. Nieko naujo (gal ir gerai). Daugybę semplų,lengvi beat’ai,atsipalaidavęs mc balsas,tobuli tekstai. Kai pirmą kart perklausiau albumą,tai pasirodė biški liudnokas,gal net ir nuobodus. Ir tai dėl to,kad tikėjaus kažko panašaus į "Full Clip". To nėra,tačiau geriau įsiklausius į gabalus,albumas palieka visgi gerą įspūdį. Geriausi iš geriausių: "werdz from the ghetto child" feat.Smiley (gaila,kad labai trumpas), "skills" (pirmasis singlas pristatantis "The Ownerz" ) ir "who got gunz" feat. Fat Joe and M.O.P. (griežtokas gabaliukas,berods su semplais iš "Rocky" filmo).

"Personally, I thought ‘The Ownerz’ album was very good, but not great as it should have been. The problem lies with the huge gap between when the single Skills hit the street and when the actual album dropped. Skills was well over a year old so now everytime I listen to the album, I can’t help but skip to the next track. Then it has that song with the unnecessary addition of Boy Big singing. I thought that was a miserable attempt to recapture the gem of a song "Royalty" which featured KC and Jo-Jo.
With all that having been said, the rest of the album bangs like two animals on the Discovery Channel. From "Put Up or Shutup" to "Zonin," listeners are exposed to vintage Premier beats, as well as others that showcase his diversity and prove that he’s not a one-trick pony whose beats all sound alike."

"This album is better than the last , as is with all of their albums. I’m one of those guys that one part of me would love to see their videos played on MTV at all times, the other part of me, the smart part relishes the fact that they feel like their my group. I try to explain why Gang Starr is the best but fall short because some bullshit ass music is glaring off his little broke down radio in his moms house.
"Whos Got Gunz" is exactly the type of record that I think they should do a lil more of, its different and it seems really updated, to the point that it didnt sound lilke premo at all when I first heard it. They really need to do albums more often, get on some early WU-TANG shit and drop all they acts one after the other. H-stax is hot, krumb is hot, all the cats on their albums is hot, except of course, melachi, what were they thinking with that cat.
Anyways, this album is the shit, that all im playing right now, and its all I will play for a while, its really complete, uptempo, cool shit, conscience shit…I love when Guru rhymes about pertinent shit like whats really going on…"
