TOEFL writing: scoring.

TOEFL writing: scoring.

Hi.
A question for all TOEFL test takers… I’m plannig to take it in two weeks so now i’m making some preparations. The most unclear part for me is the essay, I would really like to know more about its evaluation. Maybe somebody knows anything - are your thoughts, your language and overall clarity more important than the recomended stucture? I mean is it a very bad thing that in my essay I don’t repeat rephrased topic in the introduction, in the body and in the conclusion, that the first sentence in the paragraph does not reflect what all the paragraph is about and so on?..

In short - should I practice writing essays or spend sleepless nights with rules on HOW to write them correctly?

Thank you for any helpŠypsenaGėlė

OH you are a smart girl learning at all costs!!!Taip

well, i’m not preparing to take it yet, but i’ll have to write an essay in sse riga tests next week, so i had some things cleared outLaimingas jiup, i was also quite concerned whether to stick to the rules of essay writing or to ‘sacrifice’ them for reasonable and clear textLaimingas.it depends on the topic [well, at least i’ve been told so;].however, overall quality is more important, i think.

but you should never develop a new idea at the end of your work, no matter if it’s a paragraph or an essayTaip

Hmmm… It’s interesting. I’ve tried pre-TOEFL and tomorrow I am going to take the real TOEFL but I have never heard that you need to write an essay… To tell the truth there are a lot of sites where you can try it and see how it looks Mirkt Besides, you don’t need to spend sleepless nights - it isn’t worth doing this, because TOEFL requires all the things you have in your head and which you have learned through all your life Taip
